<description>Topic: Adaptec Storage Manager

Message: hi all,how do you go about monitoring storage, drives, etc.?I have an openfiler installation with an adaptec 5805 (raid 5) but currently other than rebooting every now and then in order to get into bios and check things there, I dont have another solution.Has anyone successfully installed storage manager?I know that one way around it is Vsphere and openfiler as an appliance but was wondering if theres a solution for bare metal installations.thanks.

<description>Topic: HP NC550SFP 10GBE NIC's

Message: I tried to install openfiler 2.3 on a new HP DL180 G7 with a dual port NC550SFP 10GbE nic.&#160; Install went find and it picked up all the onboard 1GB ports and then under the system status it showed an unknown ServerEgnines adapter.&#160; The NC550SFP is based on the ServerEngines chipset supported in the be2net driver but the kernel that 2.3 updates to doesnt have the updated be2net driver.&#160; Is there a simple way to update the driver without having to upgrade the kernel?I attempted to install the openfiler 3.0 beta but it freezes on boot. What surprised me was that the 2.3 build actually recognized the LSI 9280-8e 6Gbs RAID adaptor in the system properly.&#160; It also recognized a dual port Intel 10GbE (X520-DA2) card i tested with as an alternative to the NC550SFP which we purchased for use in our VMWARE ESX hosts.Any ideas of what i could try?

<description>Topic: Raid controllers

Message: Hi, all. Ive been trying to install openfiler on a new box i'm building.I tried initially to use an old raidcore (bc4852) controller. This did not work as openfiler does not have the right drivers. Then i bought an lsi 8208elp, but this doesnt work either..I get to the point in the install where it says load additional drivers, i check the lsi mega raid driver options but it doesnt work. I'be tried all the lsi drivers on that list..I have the sdk for raidcore but not for lsi and have tried to compile new drivers for raidcore using this as a reference http://www.jamesthebard.net/blog/?p=115 but so far i havent had much success. Any thoughts on why the lsi controller does not work?? And has anyone managed to build successfully custom drivers, if so, any tips much appreciated!!!Also, if i were to buy another raid controller is there a list somewhere that shows compatible controllers??Thanks,Alex

<description>Topic: Openfiler install seems to be freezing

Message: i would recommend, as has been recommended several dozen other times, to put your OF install on a separate disk.&#160; keep it off the data drives.in order to load highpoint drivers, it would be best if you have a working install first.do a search for openfiler rocketraid and see what you come up with.

<description>Topic: Openfiler install seems to be freezing

Message: Hello all,I am having a problem getting Openfiler to install on a Dell Powervault 745N.&#160; I am new to Openfiler and have limited Linux experience.&#160; I have run installs of RedHat and Ubuntu on workstations so I figured this would be simple :)&#160; The problem I am having is when booting from the CD (using a usb optical drive) the install freezes at &#34;Loading sata_mv driver...&#34;.&#160; My basic hardware config is as follows:Intel Pentium 4 x862GB RAMHighpoint PCIX 2220 SATA RAID controller4 x 2TB SATA HDDsAny help would be appreciated.&#160; I tried searching the forums first with search strings like &#34;Loading sata_mv driver&#34; and Highpoint 2220, but no luck.&#160; If this has already been addressed then I appologize for waisting your time. Thanks,Jerry
