<title>Access failing after a couple days in Openfiler : Active Directory / NT Authentication</title>

<description>Topic: Access failing after a couple days

Message: I have noticed a couple discussions that relate to this issue; although most of those discussions remain unanswered.&#160; &#160;We are running a Windows 2008 R2 domain and have implemented Openfiler 2.3 x64.&#160; It seems that after a couple days, users are no longer able to access this server.&#160; &#160;Restarting the winbind and smb services does not resolve the issue.&#160; Similar to another post, in order for this to start working correctly, the Openfiler server has to be re-joined to the domain.&#160; The openfiler server system updates occurred before any share configurations were made.&#160; Does anyone have any input regarding this?

<description>Topic: Cannot login to Openfiler if the Active Directory controller is down

Message: I was able to get back into the box via single user mode and starting the openfiler service. un-checked all the authentication selections and all was well. I do need to point out that I believe the basis for my issue was trying to leave one authentication mechanism for another. In my case I was already using a samba3.X pdc and I wanted to move to a samba 4 ads. I was able to get openfiler to attach to the samba 4 ads with a clean install of openfiler.

Message: I have come to a simular problem of not being able to log in via web ssh or locally, although my route to this issue is based on a typo&#160; rather than a bug. my question here is how do i get my openfiler operational again.

Message: 60k users??no offense to OF developers and supporters alike, as i love OF for my home, and can see its value for small to medium business, but for an organization that size, i think you should go with something that has support....if you have that many users, you might want to look at either paying for OF support or going with another product (something like NetAPP or EMC)

<description>Topic: After join AD - it is not possible to manage anything with web GUI

Message: Hello,i am trying to set up openfiler in our company domain. But after I added openfiler to domain, then it is not possible to manage shares or even create new volume. For example when i want to share new folder -&#160; it starts loading/waiting and sometimes after cca 30 min (once a wait for it) it gives mi result - list of groups and&#160; possibility to share, but then if I grant one grup&#160; RW permittion and click on edit -&#62; just waiting and waiting.Do you have idea where is the problem?May be it could be our company quite large for openfiler.? 60000 users and 22000 groupsI have install openfiler and updated exactly according to: https://forums.openfiler.com/viewtopic.php?id=2221I try it on virtual server: CPU 3GHz, 8G RAM.If I look at top when openfiler is waiting in web gui then I see that winbindd has from 10 to 90 percent CPU and about 10 or more percent of memory.wbinfo -t, wbinfo -g, wbinfo -u wokrs finelogs seems to fine, but in winbind log there lot of same messages, but I cant figer it out why is that happening.? :[2010/08/19 10:59:07,&#160; 0] winbindd/idmap.c:201(smb_register_idmap_alloc)&#160; idmap_alloc module ldap already registered![2010/08/19 10:59:07,&#160; 0] winbindd/idmap.c:201(smb_register_idmap_alloc)&#160; idmap_alloc module tdb already registered![2010/08/19 10:59:07,&#160; 0] winbindd/idmap.c:149(smb_register_idmap)&#160; Idmap module passdb already registered![2010/08/19 10:59:07,&#160; 0] winbindd/idmap.c:149(smb_register_idmap)&#160; Idmap module nss already registered!and sometimes:2010/08/19 10:59:21,&#160; 0] winbindd/winbindd.c:961(winbindd_listen_fde_handler)&#160; winbindd: Exceeding 200 client connections, no idle connection found[2010/08/19 10:59:21,&#160; 0] winbindd/winbindd.c:961(winbindd_listen_fde_handler)&#160; winbindd: Exceeding 200 client connections, no idle connection found[2010/08/19 10:59:21,&#160; 0] winbindd/winbindd.c:961(winbindd_listen_fde_handler)&#160; winbindd: Exceeding 200 client connections, no idle connection found[2010/08/19 10:59:38,&#160; 0] winbindd/winbindd.c:961(winbindd_listen_fde_handler)&#160; winbindd: Exceeding 200 client connections, no idle connection found[2010/08/19 10:59:38,&#160; 0] winbindd/winbindd.c:961(winbindd_listen_fde_handler)&#160; winbindd: Exceeding 200 client connections, no idle connection foundDo you have any advice please? <title>Incredibly slow after joining domain, and loses domain at reboot. in Openfiler : Active Directory / NT Authentication</title>

<description>Topic: Incredibly slow after joining domain, and loses domain at reboot.

Message: Most hardware vendors do not provide software support without a very expensive contract and even then it's only for qualified platforms (like Windows Server, RHEL, etc.).&#160; If they sold you the system with OpenFiler as an off-the-shelf option then you should go back to them for support.&#160; If you installed it yourself or made some special order to have them install it, I'm not sure why you'd expect them to support it.As to paying for support for OpenFiler, you can receive free support here on the forums but it is from volunteer moderators and users.&#160; If you need/want help from the devs themselves, you don't have a choice but to purchase a commercial support contract (annual or ad-hoc).&#160; Most users that have gone that route report back that their problem only took an hour or two to fix, so it's not like the cost would be astronomical. If you have not received an answer here on the forums it is either because no one has experienced your issue, no one knows how to fix it, or you haven't given enough information to diagnose and haven't reported what troubleshooting steps you've already taken (for example, did you try changing the volume name back to what it was?).

Message: I cannot believe we spend this much money for a Polywell server and they have no idea how to make this thing work, and Openfiler wants us to pay for support. This is a HUGE joke.

<description>Topic: Incredibly slow after joining domain, and loses domain at reboot.

Message: So I found a Wiki online to help me join Openfiler to my domain, because the manual from Polywell is horrible. Once I finally was able to see groups,I setup a volume and share, and it worked awesome right away. I ended up having to rename the volume, and ever since the reboot Openfiler is INCREDIBLY slow. The graphical interface takes a minute to update when you click GROUPS or when you enter a folder share to configure it. Sometimes it doesn't even accept your choices on the SHARE configuration. I also notice sometimes after reboot it loses the group list and I have to go back into accounts and put the admin password in again and JOIN OPENFILER TO DOMAIN again. Also, when i see the shared folder on the domain, it takes FOREVER to enter the folder. The first time I got this working it was instant.I need help bad...and would appreciate anything you could do.
