Topic: OF Installed on RAID 1 on 2 SATA DOM - Possible?

Message: DOMs are small solid state disks. They're typically constructed with SLC flash for long life & designed to withstand wider than normal temperatures. As a result, they tend to be rather expensive (which is to say, the 8GB DOM I have in my system at home cost the same as the 60GB OCZ Vertex 2 I just added as a scratch disk for PhotoShop). They are presented to the OS the same as any other disk, though most are missing SMART features, may not work with faster DMA modes, etc. If you have a supported RAID controller then you can absolutely stick a pair of them in RAID 1, though in my opinion, it's not really necessary as the chances of a complete failure is MUCH lower than with a rotational drive.

Topic: OF Installed on RAID 1 on 2 SATA DOM - Possible?

Message: Hi,Just wondering if the above scenario is possible? Reading a little about DOM sounds like it's basically a tiny internal hard drive, which should be picked up by the board. If the board, with multiple SATA ports, supports RAID 1, then I would think it's possible correct? Anyone actually installed this yet? I did a little search on here but nothing like this comes up. Obviously installing OF on 2 SATA/SAS/Scsi with RAID 1 is possible and actually is recommended especially if you have plan for > 2TB. I guess the other thing to consider is the actually physical location of the DOM. Considering most boards have the integrated SATA ports very close to each other, could the actual size of the DOM be a problem? Thanks in advance for chiming in...

Topic: Install cpqarrayd utility on newest openfiler / Kernel repo outdated

Message: Hi there, I'm trying to install CPQArrayD (http://www.strocamp.net/opensource/cpqarrayd.php) on the newest OpenFiler available from RPath.org (OpenFiler ESA ISO (x86_64) 2.99-43-2 from 07/07/2010). For it to compile I need the kernelsources. But thats the tricky part, I already RTFM'ed and did like they taught us in this thread ( http://forums.openfiler.com/viewtopic.php?id=958 ) BUT there seems to be a bug.uname -a gives me: Linux TEST02 2.6.33.5-0.3.smp.gcc4.1.x86_64 #1 SMP Wed Jun 23 23:31:33 BST 2010 x86_64 GNU/LinuxBut the kernelsources that the conary update process downloaded and unpacked show version linux-2.6.26.8, way older than what seems to be running. Is this a bug? Is there a fix? Thank you very much in advance for your help and time,BliZZarD
