Topic: http://openfiler.com/community/forums puts forums in unusable frame

Message: Please change the Forums link so it opens the forums in their own page. My screen is not small, but the frame that link currently puts the forums in is too small to show them. It requires opening the frame in a new window to get here..

Topic: Forum / Topic Suggestion

Message: I think it would be useful to set up some forum topics for each of the services available in Openfiler with the title identical to the service name as shown in the WebGUI. That would help novices like I am to find the relevent information I need for each service.Services missing at present include rsync and FTP and HTTP/WebDAV. it would also be useful for each service topic to have a sticky for installation / configuration of that service.

Topic: Editing thread titles?

Message: I'm not sure whether this platform supports flags like that, but to be honest, I've never been a fan. Only a very small percentage of users ever use them and it ends up either being inconsistent or more work for the moderation staff.

Topic: how to backup using openfiler?

Message: pirateghost has been been very patient in trying to answer your questions but I'm locking this thread now before his head explodes. It seems to me that you've not got the requisite experience to administer your own servers. My suggestion would be to purchase some sort of storage appliance (QNAP, Iomega, etc.) and then a commercial backup solution. Those products will come with the level of support I suspect you need.

Topic: how to backup using openfiler?

Message: use google. your backups have NOTHING to do with OpenFiler. present the storage in any way you want on OpenFiler and use rsync on your other machines to backup to the storage devicei am done with this conversation. you obviously dont actually feel like learning anything, so i will not spell it out step by step. there are PLENTY of tutorials out on the web. google it

seriously??do you even have an OpenFiler server or are you just here to annoy people?how do you share your OpenFiler server shares to your machines now? or did you really only get OpenFiler thinking it would perform as a backup server?it all depends on how you have your current shares set up or how you want to set them up.you are about as cryptic as can be. why dont you take the time to tell us EXACTLY what you want instead of these silly little one line questions.i smell a troll
